Crosslinks is a mission agency working mainly within the Anglican Communion. It was founded in 1922, and formerly known as The Bible Churchmen’s Missionary Society, with a motto taken from Revelation 1:9: "For the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ". Crosslinks activities today can be summarised as taking "God’s Word to God’s World".
Who are the people that make up Crosslinks?
Crosslinks consists of:
- Its growing world-wide family of mission and study partners and supporters committed to taking "God’s Word to God’s World".
- Its home staff, headed by General Secretary Roger Bowen, with his team of six Regional Consultants in Britain and Ireland. They seek to inform Church members about mission issues and share their concern and passion for mission with them.
- Its supporters who "pray and pay", to enable mission to happen.
What does Crosslinks do?
Crosslinks helps individuals and local churches to be realistically involved in world-wide mission. Crosslinks does this mainly by:
- enabling mission partners and others to work in other parts of the world church.
- providing grants for study partners, who have been nominated by church leaders for further theological study in Britain or another country
- sharing with other churches and agencies in their new mission initiatives, working with churches in cross cultural mission in Britain and Ireland.
- Its mission partners are involved in a range of activities, including:
- evangelism and church planting
- radio and literature ministries
- training for ministry
- teaching young people
- environmental care and medical ministries
- community development
In each case their work is at the invitation of, and under the supervision of, the local church and its leadership. They are also committed to training others to take over the work they do.
There are also Crosslinks Associates: Christians working overseas as professionals
- belonging to the Crosslinks family for fellowship and prayer support
- wishing (where possible) to be active witnessing members of a local church.
