National Day of Reflection - 23rd March

On 23 March 2021, it’ll be one year since the first UK lockdown. Since then, millions of people have been bereaved, both as a result of Covid-19 and due to other causes. The restrictions we’ve all been living under have meant that many people have had to grieve without the comfort of having friends and family around them.

Marie Curie, a charity which supports people around the event of a terminal diagnosis, has organised a National Day of Reflection to acknowledge grief and loss over the last year. The national Church of England is one of several organisations supporting it. At St. Luke's we want to offer some support as people take this opportunity to reflect on the last year.

Church Open for Private Prayer - 23rd March, 12noon-6pm
We hope this might offer people a space they can come to in order to reflect and pray. You will need to hand sanitise on entry, wear a mask and sit 2 metres away from others. We will provide a sheet for reflection (see below) for those who might find it helpful and church Bibles will also be available for use.

My Pandemic Experience - Sheets for Reflection
We have also adapted a resource from CPAS to help people reflect on the past year. It has four questions to help you think and pray and some advice related to each of the questions. The four questions cover the topics of:
  • Thanksgiving
  • Lament
  • Learning
  • Prayer

The sheets will be available in church when it is open for Private Prayer on 23rd March or you can download and print them out (see below). If you would like to share your answers with us at St. Luke's then you can either send in the completed form or use the online form (just click the button below).
