Thank you to Pauline for organising a wonderful celebration lunch for St. Luke's at 140 years old!

This is a picture of the wonderful cake she made - it was delicious and enjoyed by all.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and made it such a good occasion.

It was wonderful to celebrate with friends and family in church on 4th October for our Harvest Festival. The children brought up to the front food donated by the church family. This will be greatly received by Thanet Food Link.
We will be able to let you know the total for money donations next week. The money collected will be sent to Compassion child sponsorship. We also managed to have 5 children from the Philippines sponsored by church families.
The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and  sheaves of corn.

From CMS Mission Partners in Kenya:
Dick Seed at the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC)
Caroline Seed at the Presbyterian University of East Africa (PUEA)

Dear friends

We have been back in Kenya for 6 weeks now and are settling down into our new house on a windy hill above Nairobi. It was very cold inside in August but thankfully it has warmed up now. As you can imagine, Dick is thoroughly enjoying having a garden to tend again.

Answers to prayer from the August prayer update:

1.       Dick’s lecturer training workshop at St Paul’s University at the end of August went well. The partner mission (Dan Mission) has asked him to run a similar programme in Tanzania in 2016.
2.      We managed to get the electricity bill sorted out without unnecessary complications.
3.      Caroline is settling into her new role as lecturer in Mission/Church History and New Testament and is just about keeping ahead of the lectures.
4.      We have been attending the local Anglican Church. Dick has been put onto the preaching rota and will be preaching his first sermon next week (11th October).

As we move into October, we would like to ask for prayer for Dick as he is desperately trying to get his third lecturer training manual ready for publication. Dick is due to accompany the OAIC International team to an Executive meeting in Ghana in the second week of October but there are problems with dates, flights and visas. Please pray for a resolution to the current impasse. Another impasse is settling a date for the course writers’ training programme for the OAIC distance diploma. Please pray that a date will be agreed on soon.

I am in the final editing stages of my thesis, due for submission before 15th November. Praise the Lord that I just made the preliminary 1st October deadline, even though it meant working through the night! I am supposed to have the lectures for all three of my new courses fully written by the middle of October, but this is proving to be quite a challenge with the demands of the thesis. I know that somehow it will all work out, but I would appreciate your assistance in prayer.

I am excited about a writing project that the students in the African Church History class are doing. They are writing the biographies of significant historical Kenyan and Ugandan church leaders whose stories have not been told. They will be presenting the results of oral interviews in October and writing up short biographical stories in November. There is a sense of history in the making!

We love to hear from you. Unfortunately we no longer have Wi Fi at home, so we may be slower to respond but your messages always encourage us.

With our love

Dick and Caroline
