Mary Magdalene is a popular figure in fiction and films. Yet the Bible says very little about her. In Luke's gospel we are told that she was one of the group that travelled around with Jesus and had had 7 demons cast out of her (Luke 8:1-3), but other than that we are only told that she was one of the first to see the empty tomb and resurrected Jesus. In John's account we are given a very touching account of Mary meeting the resurrected Jesus for the first time. Her tears are turned to joy, but can we find the same joy and hope from the resurrected Jesus today. |
