Many people in the UK still describe themselves as Christians. Many others still bring their children for baptism. Others think highly of the Christian values that underlie the values of our country. Do any of these attitudes or actions ensure people's salvation? Paul's challenge in these verses is to Jews who similarly relied on religious identity. He is keen to show them that such attitudes and actions are not enough to save. Only real faith in God's good news brings salvation. |
